Amazing to think that The Bill has been going strong for well over 20 years now, from its humble beginnings as a one off play called Woodentop in ITV's Storyboard anthology series to one of the mainstays of the ITV schedule, although it is verging on the soap opera at times these days in its earliest years it was strong hour long crime drama all the way.
Network are just about to release the first three series in an 11 disc box set, complete and uncut for the first time. The set features all the most memorable characters such as D.I. Galloway (John Salthouse), Sgt. Cryer (Eric Richard), D.S. Roach (Tony Scannell), P.C. Carver (Mark Wingett) and P.C. Hollis (Jeff Stewart).
