EXODUS

Award winning Penny Woolcock's latest drama is a futuristic retelling of the Exodus story set in Margate of all places some twenty years in the future. The brilliant Bernard Hill plays Pharoah whilst Daniel Percival plays Moses. Like Woodcock's previous productions such as Tina Goes Shopping Exodus makes use of a mostly non professional cast, most of whom are local to the Margate area.

Leading actor Bernard Hill (Lord of the Rings, Boys from the Blackstuff) plays Pharoah and Ger Ryan (Queer as Folk, Fat Friends) is Pharoah’s wife Batya. Daniel Percival (Vital Signs, Sinchronicity) plays Moses and rising newcomer, Clare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men, Shooting Dogs) plays Zipporah, wife of Moses. They perform alongside hundreds of non-professional actors from Margate and the surrounding area, including Anthony Johnson who plays Moses’ brother Aaron and Delroy Moore who plays wise schoolteacher Jethro.

Penny Woolcock has a longstanding relationship with Channel 4. Her award-winning and acclaimed productions include the John Adams opera The Death of Klinghoffer and Tina Goes Shopping.
