A FAMILY AT WAR SEASON ONE

A Family at War is being released on video and DVD by Acorn Media on 12 January.

This adaptation of the novel by John Finch (Sam, This Year, Next Year, Spoils of War), starring Colin Douglas (When the Boat Comes In, Nanny, G.B.H), Shelagh Fraser (Midsomer Murders, Wodehouse Playhouse), as the heads of the family around which the story revolves. A Family at War is the powerful wartime story of the Ashton family. Living in Liverpool during the Second World War they struggle to deal with the harsh realities of life as their sons are sent abroad to fight, their children are evacuated and those who remain at home live in constant fear - either of the War Office telegram or the Luftwaffe. Originally broadcast in 1970 on ITV, the series was a huge hit. It was number one in the ratings and attracted audiences in excess of 26 million viewers.
