Bergerac
A Memorable TV original look at the locations used in the UK series Bergerac.
Bergerac is famously set in Jersey with the whole of the island acting as one big location. The picture left shows a scene from the show depicting Island of Jersey. Jersey is a small but perfectly formed island that is five miles wide and nine miles long with beautiful sandy beaches all around its edge. Nearer to France than England Jersey usually has much better weather than the rest of the UK.  Capital of Jersey is St Helier.

Jersey is rich in history and has a burial mound on the island dating back to 3800BC as well as places like Elizabeth Castle (now a military museum) and Jersey Museum.  One of the great pluses for the visitor to Jersey is the shopping possibilities in that English VAT (Value Added Tax) does not apply.

Incidentally Jim drove a vintage  triumph roadster (in burgundy). Jim's home can be found at Haut de la Garenne. Also well worth a visit for location seekers is the Old Court House Hotel in St Aubin. Bergerac was a crime drama series that ran on the BBC for most of the 1980's, star John Nettles played recovering alcoholic detective sergeant Jim Bergerac.

Other areas of interest include:-
THE JERSEY WILDLIFE PRESERVATION TRUST
The creation of naturalist Gerald Durrell , the trust is located at Jersey Zoo, the aim of the trust is to preserve species that are being threatened with extinction. There are some  20 acres plus of parkland featuring many rare species for visitors to look at.

THE BATTLE OF FLOWERS
A famous spectacle on Jersey that occurs on the second Thursday in August. The parade that takes place on that day has its beginnings at the start of the 20th Century. The day is like a carnival with hundreds of floats decked out in amazing floral designs.
