UNDERBELLY RAZOR: CHELSIE PRESTON CRAYFORD IS TILLY DEVINE
Aus TV Highlights | Underbelly Razor
New Zealand actress Chelsie Preston Crayford plays Tilly Devine in the Channel 9 show Underbelly Razor. Based on real life characters from the Sydney underworld Razor takes us back to the 1920′s when a pair of women (Devine and Kate Leigh) ruled the roost when it came to immoral earnings and hard faced illegal business. Thanks to a dodgy loophole in the law at the time which meant women couldn’t be prosecuted for profiting from “immoral earnings” Devine was able to set herself up as the city’s number one brothel Madam. Not that that stopped her from being arrested over 200 times for crimes than ranged from solicitor to razor slashing to the rather gruesome setting fire to a copper.
Crayford plays this hard bitten, stop at nothing woman with a real touch of 1920′s elegance, she is good friends with Danielle Cormack who plays Kate Leigh and actually auditioned with her for the role at the same time. She says the fight scenes the characters have together were a particular joy to film!
