/ 119+x60m-e / 1998-continuig
Medical
drama series. Problems, both professional and personal, of the doctors
and nurses at Sydney hospital All Saints especially those working on
ward 17. The show has been filmed at various real Sydney hospitals
including Concord, The Rachel Forster Hospital and latterly Hornsby
Ku-Ring-Gai. This is mainly for exteriors though as the
interiors are filmed on a purpose built set at the 7 studios. All
Saints won the Logie for most popular program at the 2001 awards.
Robert Coleby and Conrad Coleby are father and son in real life. There
was an All Saints special edition of The Weakest Link broadcast on 4
February 2002 in which Erik Thomson emerged as the winner.
Georgie Parker won Gold Logies in both 2001 and 2002 thanks mainly to
her role in the show.

ARCADE
Network 10
/ 60x30m-e / 1980
Short
lived and very over hyped nightly soap soap style drama series.
Stories of the staff who worked in a Sydney shopping mall, the show
was deemed to be bad enough to be pulled after 30 of it's 60 episodes.
Actor Jewremy Kewley said of the show "Arcade" was NOT a Crawfords or Grundys series (as is often reported). It was one of the first shows (in Australia) financed and produced in-house by a Network (it is now more common - "Home and Away", etc). At the time, the 0-10 Network was being taken over by Rupert Murdoch and was being streamlined and
changed into "Network Ten". The in-house idea was a big part of the problem with "Arcade". Each Channel/State put money into the show and had a say in it's production. Hence the problems - Sydney wanted more raunchy stuff,
Perth and Melbourne wanted more comedy, and so on. This also led to the strange situation of it being shown in different time slots around the country . .. . and one state running it longer than the others"

Comedy.
Often controversial sketch show starring the cross
dressing Aunty Jack who would dress as a pantomime dame,
wear one boxing glove and ride a motor bike, his/her
catchphrase was "I'll rip yer bloody arm off". A
special edition was broadcast on 1 March 1975 as an
attempt by the ABC to introduce viewers to colour TV. The
show began life as a couple of pilot radio shows for kids
which the ABC considered too scary for children. Graeme
Bond said in a TV Week interview on 10 February 1973 that
"the boxing glove? well that is sort of symbolic,
Aunty Jack is bigoted, but she sees herself as a golden
gloved fighter seeking justice". There was a one off
special following the series which was broadcast 8 June
1973 called Aunty Jack Rox On featuring retreads of some
of the best loved sketches and also four songs from a put
together band called Cool Bananas (in reality the group
were headed by former Easybeat Stevie Wright and called Black Tank)
There was a revival
of the character for the ten network in 1982.
