Thriller. In 1971 crook Peter Macari pulls off a daring raid on the Qantas airline and then embarks on a spree of wild living but the police are determined to track him down however long it takes. Based on a true story that actually took place in Sydney in 1971. Large portions of the interior shooting were based in Adelaide, South Australia at Lips Studio in the dockside area of Port Adelaide, and wherever possible exteriors were mocked up to look like Sydney.

Period crime drama series. 1920's Melbourne: When her husband William dies, former lawyer Jennifer Carson is, in order to provide for her family, forced to start practicing again; William's father Godfrey, also a lawyer was heavily involved with the show as were William's brothers and sisters, Robert, Margery, Thomas and the younger Amy.

This afternoon show was hosted by "Dr John" (Dr John Cobley - a general physician at the Sydney Royal Hospital for Women and Royal Prince Alfred).a professional doctor, the aim of the show was to dispense medical advice and all the patients were real, several of Dr John's real medical colleagues appeared as themselves - many were quite prominent Australian physicians and surgeons.

Documentary looking at the life of Australia's former Governor Genral Lord Casey from his birth in Brisbane in 1890 to his installation as a Knight of the Garter at Windsor Castle nearly 80 years later. Tony Hayden spoke to both Lord and Lady Casey at their home.

 

CASH AND COMPANY

Period drama series. During the 19th century a pair of likeable outlaws make an attempt to give up their bad ways. A follow up called Tandarra appeared the following season, Serge Lazareff however, didn't appear. The show was actually screened in the UK before it's Australian premiere. Much like Alias Smith and Jones featured two outlaws, here, Sam Cash and Joe Brady trying their best to go straight. Their were guest appearances from the likes of Judy Morris, Tony Bonner, Michael Pate, Lynette Curran and Bruce Barry. A film made in 1977 called Raw Deal was basically a continuation of the series featuring the same two leads with the action taking place in the 1870's.

Essenden Airport (close to Melbourne) was used as the airbase location.

A celebrity charades type show with two teams of celebs doing battle against each other. Seen first on 9 hosted by Bert Newton and then revived in 1976 with Mike Preston.

 

CELEBRITY SQUARES

9 and 10 / x30m-e / 1967 and 1975-76

This game show was based on the US Hollywood Squares and took the old noughts and crosses as its theme. Two members of the public asked nine celebs various questions and had to decide who was telling the truth, each correct answer gave them either a nought or a cross etc. Initially on 9 hosted by John Bailey and then revived on 10 with Jimmy Hannan.

 

CELEBRITY TITTLE TATTLE

Game show featuring celebs telling tall stories amongst other things. Hosted by Ugly Dave Gray.

 

CERTAIN WOMEN

Soap style drama series following the Stone family especially the women as they made their way in the world. The series originally ran as a six part serial but because of the success of that a series followed. Originally a six part serial, each episode of which focused on a different female member from the same family. The last 100 episodes were in colour.

CHAINS OF LOVE

Reality style game show/dating program hosted by Rozz Switzer that saw each week one person known as a "heart" attached to four "chainees" of the opposite sex, they spent a week together in the Chains of Love house (having to sleep in the same bed and so on). The Heart then decides which of the group they would like to leave until only one chainee remains. The chainee could then decide whether they wanted to see the "heart" again. Based on a UK original that was hosted by Mel, one of the stars of the first Big Brother.

 

CHAN CANASTA

Magic show hosted by the "illusionist" of the title. Canasta had to prove his tricks in front of a celeb panel and overall host of the show was Bob Sanders.

Soap opera in the style of Melrose Place but with sex and nudity unlimited a kind of 1990's Number 96. When Dan and Barbara Taylor win a million dollar lottery, their lives and the lives of their extended family quickly change. Over the course of the shows run cast members came and went with alarming regularity with later episodes tending to focus on manipulative businessman Alex Taylor (Dan and Barbara's son).

Action adventure series. Cases of the crew of the Helicopter Rescue Service. The show was preceded by a 90 minute pilot edition produced by Roger Mirams (Rebecca Gilling also appeared in the pilot). So pleased with this pilot were 10 that they decided to commission a series even before the pilot aired. Season one saw the team based at Dee Why Surf Club and in season two they were based at North Palm Beach. The helicopter used in the show was a Bell Jet Ranger 2 although the pilot featured an Airfast helicopter.
