A WALTZ THROUGH THE HILLS

Period family drama serial. In 1954 a pair of orphan kids (brother and sister) who fear they are about to be split up decide to run away to England, to be with their grandparents. They set out on the road to Perth and are befriended by an Aboriginal man and his family.

Children's fantasy drama series a trio of children become caught up in an adventure inextricably linked to a set of sacred Aboriginal cave paintings. The same behind the scenes people were responsible for the previous years The Stranger serial. Wandjina made much use of Aboriginal actors throughout it's run.

WANTED

A true crime series in which presenter Tim Hewat and journalists John Tingle and Bob Talbot looked at unsolved crimes. The show made much use of factual re-enactments based on police records and eye witness accounts.

Consumer affairs show hosted by lawyer David Galbally QC and looking at the problems faced by the public in dealing with dodgy tradesmen, insurance companies and the like. Also with reporters Leila McKinnon and Adam Shand and based on a UK original.

WATER RATS

Page highlight:- Crime drama Water Rats. Crime drama series. Cases of the cops in charge of keeping crime away from Sydney Harbour. For the 2001 season following the departure of both Friels and McClements the producers decided to open the show up a little more to bring in more of the cops personal lives instead of just concentrating on the crimes. On Tuesday 29 May 2001 Water Rats had its first wedding when Eva Minton returned from Darwin pregnant and ready to marry Gavin Sykes but soon after this the series was cancelled. Final episode broadcast 7 August 2001. The show won two Awgies in 2001.

Animated drama about a young girl who yearns to fly with the birds in the sky and embarks on a magical journey to fulfil her desire. Presented by William McInnes (husband of director Watt) and with the voice of Julie Nihill. There were some 14,000 individual cells needed to make the movie.

General knowledge knockout quiz presented by Cornelia Frances and based on a UK original.  At the end of each round the contestants voted off the poorest performing member of the group and Frances bid them goodbye telling them "You are the Weakest Link".  Cornelia got the role she said because "When the producers were calling people in to audition as host, one said 'Where's Corny, I need a bitch for this and she'd be perfect'".  Every so often there were celebrity specials such as the one of Monday 27 August 2001 which featured most of the inmates from Big Brother.

Friday night variety series (shown at 8.00pm) with music and comedy. The show came from Melbourne and was hosted by Jimmy Hanna. Guests often included a big name American along the lines of Newil Sedake and so on as well as people like Ronnie and Maggie Burns and Barry Crocker etc.

The ABC show The Inventors transplanted to the 9 Network. The host (Geoff Stone) and producer was the same as was the format, inventors showing off their wares to a panel (who were Lorraine Bayly (later Helen Wellings), Vic Nicholson and Neville Stephenson.

A guess the value of the antiques panel show hosted by Norman Griffiths, based on the UK's Going For A Song. The antiques were provided by the viewers. Also on hand was Antiques expert Leslie Hartley.
