Crownies (ABC-1 2011, Todd Lasance, Ella Scott Lynch)
Drama series Crownies takes us into the professional and personal lives of five young solicitors trying to make it in an increasingly fast paced and egocentric world and where there is a huge divide between the newly arrived and those at the top. Ben McMahon is something of a charmer, especially when it comes to women and comes from a renowned legal family; Lina Badir is Australian-Palestinian who is highly ambitious; Erin O’Shaughnessy is from the Western Suburbs of Sydney and finds it hard to not get emotionally involved; Richard Stirling is a research specialist who likes a joke and Tatum Novak is highly self assured despite being the youngest of the quintet and least experienced.
Other key players include senior prosecutor Janet King, office bully Tracey Samuels, dedicated Andy Campbell and David Sinclair the state’s number one prosecutor.
The series debuted with a feature length special combining the first two episodes.
Despite only running for one series the show managed to get a spin off with Janet King focusing on the character played by Marta Dusseldorp in the show.
