BREAKFAST TV Breakfast television was first launched by the BBC on 17th Jan 1983 with a show hosted by Frank Bough and Selina Scott. Two weeks later TV-AM was on the air, this had some heavyweight presenters in the form of David Frost, Michael Parkinson, Angela Rippon and Robin Day. However it was the BBC show that took the ratings at first with TV-AM on the verge of calling it a day. Their unlikely saviour was a fast talking puppet rat called Roland who helped revitalise the show. Later hosts included Anne Diamond, Nick Owen, Mike Morrissey, John Stapleton and Jayne Irving.
