GRANDSTAND

BBC's long running Saturday afternoon sports magazine show with live coverage of all major sporting events. Sunday Grandstand began in 1981, this is shown on BBC2. Peter Dimmock was the original presenter (for two weeks) then David Coleman presided until 1968, other long time presenters have included Des Lynam and Steve Ryder. The show underwent a revamp in late 2002 with with new presenters, a new approach and a new half-hour sports show called G Two. The new presenters included John Inverdale and Adrian Chiles.

Period drama told in two parts with separate casts. In the first story Mary Queen of Scots arrives from France to take up her Scottish throne where her Catholicism clashes with Protestant Scotland. The second story sees Mary's son, James, as an adult taking up his throne in England and foiling a plot to blow up parliament with gunpowder. NOTE: Initially billed as a four-part series - The first story was shown as two distinct episodes shown back-to-back as a double-bill; the second story was shown as a single double-length episode. Both stories are probably available to be packaged in either manner.
