Writer: Stephen Gallagher
Romantic thriller serial. Successful entrepreneur Peter Briscoe leads an affluent, but soulless, life, having broken up with Katy, his one true love, 15 years earlier to pursue his career abroad. Back in London for his brother's wedding, Peter catches a glimpse of Katy leaving an art gallery one evening and, determined to make up for lost time, decides to engineer a "chance" meeting between them. Long since settled with a partner, played by Adrian Rawlins, and with a successful career in the art world, Katy is pleased to see Peter and agrees to meet for dinner. Over their meal, however, Katy reveals her dissatisfaction with her relationship and that, deep down, she still feels exactly the same about Peter – and they embark upon a passionate, but ultimately doomed, love affair.
However, their love turns to tragedy and, in his torment, Peter begins to doubt his sanity as events take a series of unexpected and incredible turns. Peter discovers a card for a mysterious organisation called Life Line and, initially, he finds that his phone calls to it offer some answers. The arrival of a stranger in the shape of Catt throws Peter's life into confusion – and he realises that nothing, and no-one, are as they seem.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON
ITV-Ecosse / 2x90 minute episodes / 2005 (24-25 January)
Writer: Shaun McKenna / Producer: Jeremy Gwilt / Director: Nick Laughland
Thriller serial. Life is going swimmingly for Dee Stanton, a new promotion in her solicitors job and boyfriend, teacher Dominic Milne, wants to marry her, however she does have a troublesome teenage son Jamie to deal and she has forgotten to tell Dominic something important, her ex-husband is a serial killer responsible for the murder of four young girls, however the trouble really starts when one of the girls at Jamie's school is murdered and both Jamie and Dominic are implicated in the crime. Robson Green proves yet again that he is one of the UK's most charismatic actors with his role as teacher Dominic Milne in this gripping psychological thriller from Shaun McKenna which plays out like a vintage episode of Morse or Prime Suspect. Jemma Redgrave takes most of the plaudits though as the stressed out mother of teenage Jamie who may just be following in his serial killer father's footsteps. It's a creepy tale made more so by the appearances of Phil Davis as the killer Paul Barker, Davis is able to do a great line in evil and although his role here is small his performance genuinely sends shivers down the spine.

LINDA GREEN
UK / BBC1-Red / 20x30m-e / 2001-2002
Creator: Paul Abbott / PRODUCERS: Nicola Shindler and Matthew Bird
Drama series about the Linda Green of the title, confident, funny and flirty, she works in a car showroom by day, selling finance on used motors. But by night she's in her element behind a microphone, belting out numbers at the local social club. She can't keep a man for more than fifteen minutes, but then again, she doesn't really want to! Written by PAUL ABBOTT (the BAFTA and RTS award-winning creator of Clocking Off), produced by Red Production Company (the creators of Queer as Folk), and starring LIZA TARBUCK in the title role. Originally conceived as a series of six half-hour dramas, the BBC were so impressed with the rough-cuts of the first two episodes that they immediately extended the series to ten episodes - with plans for a further ten in the pipeline. JANE TRANTER, Drama Commissioner at the BBC explains: "When we looked at the first two episodes, the immediacy, audacity and sheer sense of fun of the series was so apparent that we decided an initial run of six episodes would not be enough to introduce audiences to LINDA GREEN."

LINE-UP
BBC2 / 1964-72
An early evening preview of the evenings programmes on BBC2, this later became Late Night Line Up turning into a general review show, it was on most nights of the week and there were over 3000 editions. In October 1965 came Line Up which looked specifically at television and Plunder ( a look at the BBC's admittedly skimpy archives pre 1955). The music series colour me pop (BBC2 1968-69 with many top rock acts of the era). The series Film NIght also grew out of Late Night Line Up and there was also a music series called Disco 2 (BBC2 1970-71) hosted by Tommy Vance. The original team on Late Night Line Up consisted of Joan Bakewell, Dennis Tuohy, Michael Dean and Nicholas Tresilian.
LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR
C4/Whistling Gypsy / 6x60m-e / 1993 21 February - 28 March
Writer: Dennis Potter / Producer: Rosemarie Whitman / Director: Renny Rye
Period drama serial. A 1950's national serviceman is sent to work in a boring unit in the War Office whilst dreaming of making it as a rock 'n' roller, meanwhile one of his colleagues falls madly in love with the wife of their hated corporal. Like Potters other works (Pennies from Heaven and the Singing Detective) the characters burst into song at the drop of a hat, miming to popular records of the day.
