A further 4 two part stories followed from 2 Sep 02 and a further Six 2-part stories started 11 July 2004 and in the final episode of the 2004 series Mel Silver dies. 2005 series (again 6x2 part stories) started 18 September.

Many great names made their mark with plays broadcast under the Wednesday Play banner including Dennis Potter, Jeremy Sandford (Cathy Come Home), Ken Loach and many more. The title eventually made way for the Play For Today strand during the seventies.
