BUSHWHACKED by Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose
Publishers: Wakefield Press

Reviewer: Jeff Bloom

Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose are Texan investigative journalists and authors who have followed the rise and rise of George W. Bush for over 20 years.
Stating that “The Washington Press Corp focuses on the White House, we found that starting at the other end provides a clearer vision of what is happening in Amercia” the book covers such diverse subjects as  social justice, tax, labour issues and wealth, it may be called, from a cynical viewpoint, Michael Moore without the satire but with a lot more facts. Ivins writes with a passion and anger that we in Australia have great difficulty understanding.

Ivins quotes “the first duty of government is to protect the powerless against the powerful” , she and people like Michael Moore are part of a small band of journalists who appear to uphold that view.
