CAT ON THE HILL by Michael Foreman
Publishers: Anderson Press (Random House)

Reviewer: PJ

A wonderful air of melancholia runs through this beautiful picture book by Michael Foreman, set in St Ives and following a former ships cat over the course of a year as he adjusts to life on dry land.
Beautifully illustrated and moving through the seasons starting with summer as the cat spends his days nestling under the stone steps of an old cottage at the top of a well known lookout getting chubby on tidbits from tourists and fighting with a nearby dog. But as the seasons turn the tourists are fewer and the cat has to go into town searching for food but with the feral town cats on his tail it looks like its all over for tabby until he learns the value of friendship.

A lovely engaging peice that you’ll enjoy reading to your kids.
