Every Fixed star is Jane
Kirkpatrick's eleventh novel and
follow up to her tenth A
Name of Her Own, it
continues the story of Iowa
Indian woman Marie Dorion.
Kirkpatrick
really has the knack of drawing
you into Marie's world, based on
the life of a real woman, with
Kirkpatrick's love of the period
evident in every paragraph.
Every Fixed Star picks up the
story in 1814 and Marie is now
alone in the world with two sons
to look after, she has to start
again from scratch in an
unfamiliar landscape and to make
matters worse, it's the middle
of winter. Without giving
too much away Marie faces more
hard times including the disappearance
of one of her children causing
her to question her faith and
whether "this God of the
Stars" cares for a mere
woman.
A truly enjoyable read from
first page to last and one that
you don't want to finish because
you want to stay in Marie's
World. Jane Kirkpatrick plans to
conclude the story of Marie
Dorion in a third and final
novel in The Tender Ties series
to be called Hold Tight The
Thread.
We
have a revealing interview with
Jane Kirkpatrick here
in which she talks about what
inspired her to write about
Marie and what plans she has
next amongst much more. .
