Comedy. Series redubbing old news footage from the archives of MAP TV and British Pathe News. The same team were also behind The Staggering Stories of Ferdinand De Bargos and Pallas. Voices were provided by Stephen Frost, Jon Glover, Steve Steen, En Reitel and Joanna Brooks.

Script Editor: Trevor McCallum (seasons 1-2) / Producer/Directors: Tony Wolfe (seasons 1-2), Ken O'Neill (season 3), Tom Poole (season 4)

Sketch series featuring the dubious talents of Irish comic Jimmy Cricket - the title of the show was his catchphrase. Rory Bremner featured in the first season whilst Brian Conley featured in the second.

 

AN HOUR WITH CLIVE DUNN

An interview with the comedy actor as well as a screening of the Dad's Army episode The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones.

On off stand up special with Father Ted actor Ardal O'Hanlon recorded live in concert at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin.

Sketch show with an amazing pairing of Terry-Thomas and Max Miller.

 

ARMSTRONG AND MILLER

Channel 4-Paramount-Absolutely / x30m-e / 1997-continuing

Writers: Alexander Armsrong, Ben Miller / Executive producer: Miles Bullough

Sketch series featuring the very funny double act Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller. Among many notable characters stand outs were the bad rock duo Stryker, the vets of Nude Practice (with strategically placed objects sparing the viewers blushes - Sarah Alexander was a regular on many of these sketches and maverick cop Jack Force). The show's first series was on the satellite only Paramount Comedy Channel and Channel 4 presented a 45 minute special of this material before their first terrestrial series.  A highlights special was broadcast 22 Dec 1999 - Wed 11.05pm under the title Armstrong and Miller's Festive Highlights.

 

THE ARTHUR ASKEY SHOW

A series of one off Saturday Night extravaganzas, much in the same mould of Big Hearted Arthur's previous sketch series Before Your Very Eyes. There was a 2 edition Arthur Askey variety show for the BBC in 1951 and a 15minute one off in 1955 again for the BBC. THE ARTHUR HAYNES SHOW

ITV Network (ATV) / 157x30m-e 1x50m-e / 1957-66 Fifteen seasons + 1 special

Writer: (Mostly) Johnny Spieght

A series featuring the very popular in his day Arthur Haynes. Haynes was starting to make a name for himself in films when he died suddenly aged fifty two. His most regular foil was Nicholas Parsons but also on hand were Ken Morris, Joan Savage and in later shows Patricia Hayes.

 

ASSAULTED NUTS

A manic high speed sketch show featuring most of the people involved in the BBC's Kenny Everett's Television Show. These were:- Barry Cryer, Cleo Rocos, Tim Brooke-Taylor, David Peacock, Wayne Knight and Bill Sadler.

One off comedy special based on the popular radio show Much Binding in the Marsh. With Richard Murdoch, Kenneth Horne and Sam Costa.

A lunch time special for the pair of cross dressing comedians,the pair,  Hinge and Bracket also had a bizarre sitcom Dear Ladies.

Entertainment. A 60th birthday tribute to Mr Camp himself - Larry Grayson.

An evening of programmes (Dad's Army and the like) picked by Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, interspersed between the shows were sketches featuring some of their more well known characters.

AT LAST...IT'S MIKE ELLIOTT

Channel 4-Tyhne Tees / 6x30m-e / 1983 4 June- 9 July

Writer: Mike Elliott / Producer: Heather Gang / Director: Tony Bulley

Controversial northern stand up with Mike Elliott, originally scheduled for ITV broadcast in 1982 but cancelled by the IBA for being too adult, the IBA relented a year later and the series went out on Channel Four.

 

AT LAST THE 1948 SHOW

Writers: Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Marty Feldman / Executive Producer: David Frost / Director: Ian Fordyce

Sketch series, a kind of precursor to Monty Python and The Goodies, featuring John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Eric Idle of Python and Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddie of the Goodies. Also featured were Marty Feldman, Aimi MacDonald, Jo Kendall and Barry Cryer. The series went out mainly in the London area, quite a few regions didn't even show it at all.

 

AT THE ELEVENTH HOUR

BBC1 / 10x35m-e / 1967-68 30 Dec 67 - 2 Mar 1968

Topical and satirical late night Saturday sketch type show and also featuring slots for poetry and pop. The featured players were Jeanie Lambe (who sang a topical song every week written by Ray Davies of The Kinks), Miriam Margoyles, the poet Roger McGough, Richard Neville of the Underground magazine Oz and Alan Shallcross.

 

AN AUDIENCE WITH JASPER CARROTT

A headlining first series for Brummie stand up Jasper Carrott.

The BBC version of It'll Be Alright on the Night, featuring outtakes of various BBC shows Presented by Terry Wogan (whose links have been written by Steve Knight and Mike Whitehill and since 1994 by Tom Webber). Since 1994 the shows have been produced by the BBC alone. Current producer is Clare Ragsdale.
