football series hosted by Frank Skinner and David Baddiel in a studio made to
look like the flat they shared at the time in real life. A group of celebrity
managers picked their fantasy teams and the show followed their progress
throughout the season (with each celeb making three or four appearances each
season). Skinner and Baddiel also performed sketches recreating classic
footballing moments in a segment called Phoenix from the Flames. Angus Loughran
aka Statton was also on hand to provide analysis of the weeks football.

FAST AND LOOSE BBC / 5x45m-e 5x30m-e / 1954-55 1 special and 2 seasons black and white Writers: Bob Monkhouse, Denis Goodwin / Producers: Kenneth Carter, Brian Tesler This early live sketch based series starred the then double act of Bob Monkhouse and Denis Goodwin, who as well as writing this show for themselves were also writing for many other acts around this time.
Creators/Producers: Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson / Executive Producer: Geoffrey Perkins Very popular sketch series filled with memorable characters and catchphrases ('Suit You Sir' , 'Bugger' and 'Scorchio' are just a few of the many catchphrases. Classic characters included Unlucky Alf, Rowley Birkin QC, Ted and Ralph, Monkfish, Chip Cobb the Deaf Stuntman, Swiss Toni and many many more. The cast was headed by Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson (who had come to prominence working with Harry Enfield on his sketch shows) and also included John Thomson, Mark Williams, Arabella Weir, Simon Day and Caroline Aherne. The show is known as Brilliant in the USA. There was a Fast Show theme night broadcast on BBC2 11 September 1999 Saturday 9.00pm / This lasted two hours and consisted of three shows (the first ever Fast Show episode, a documentary called Suit Your Sir! The Inside Leg of the Fast Show and a compilation of previously unseen clips called You Ain't Seen These, Right). A 90 minute special was also broadcast 1 January 2002 at 9.00pm called I Love the 100 Best Top 10 Lists of the Fast Show. SPECIAL:- THE LAST FAST SHOW EVER (BBC2 / 3x40m-e / 2000 26 - 28 December ) This was a 3 part special featuring all the regular characters and a special appearance by Hollywood actor Johnny Depp (apparently a big fan of the show in real life).
Marty FELDMAN (1933 - 82) The bug eyed comic was also a prolific writer (often with Barry Took) whose credits included The Army Game, Bootsie and Snudge, Round the Horne (for radio), The Frost Report, At Last the 1948 show (in which he also appeared) from these he later graduated to his own series and then movies. FRENCH AND SAUNDERS BBC / x30m-e / 1987-1996 and 2004 Writers: Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders / Producers: Jon Plowman, Geoff Posner Sketch series with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. The pair had graduated to their own vehicle after appearing in the Comic Strip and Sitcoms (Girls on Top, Happy Families etc) before this series gave them full rein to develop some memorable characters. In the early years (until 1993) comedy music act Raw Sex (aka Rowland Rivron and Simon Brint) also appeared on a regular basis. FRENCH AND SAUNDERS’S CHRISTMAS PUDDING (BBC1 1x40minutes) was broadcast on 25 December 2002. On 15 October 2004 a new six part series was shown which apart from the occasional special was the duo's first new series since 1996.

There were regular sketches, mainly mini-cab tannoy operator Doreen and a pair of awful Sloaney 'It' girls. Charlotte Colman appeared in the second of these sketches each week, the other regular was Ken Andrew who appeared as Tuesday's boyfriend Grant.

Martin would later go on top become the writer of children's puppet series The Basil Brush Show.

GET THE DRIFT BBC2 / 13x30m-e / 1971 and 1976 2 seasons plus one special Producers: Alfred Bradley (season 1), Mike Healy (season 2) Sketch series based on a stage show called 'The Northern Drift'. Henry Livings and Alex Glasgow were the main stars of season one (Glasgow is probably best known for his singing of the theme tune to When the Boat Comes In). After a special in 1976 which was called Cribbins; Livings and Co, Bernard Cribbins, Roy Kinnear, Livings and Glasgow appeared in a further season.

GILLIE POTTER BBC / 12x10m-e 1x15m-e 1x20m-e / 1936-39 One season plus eight specials Writer: Gillie Potter Popular BBC Radio comedian Gillie Potter made a few forays into the early days of TV. Following two one off specials (5 December 1936 and 9 January 1937) there was a season on 6x10m-e (between March 1937 and March 1938), after that there were four occasional specials in which Potter was billed as Mr Gillie Potter.

GO FOR IT London Weekend Television / 6x30m-e / 1984 27 May - 1 July Sunday 7.15pm Writer/Producer: Russel Lane / Director: Alasdair Macmillan Impressions based series for the family audience with Les Dennis, Dustin Gee, Aiden J. Harvey, Bobby Davro, Johnny More, Ann Byrne and Allan Stewart.
Writers: Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor / Music: Bill Oddie Anarchic, frantic, fast series about initially three flat sharing go anywhere, do anything, anytime troubleshooters. Later the series became more a collection of loosely linked sketches, the trio made ample use of special effects and speeded up film etc and the they also managed a number of chart hits in the process (most notably the Funky Gibbon). The Goodies switched from the BBC to the ITV Network (LWT) for one special and one season at the end of their TV run. The Goodies were Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor.
GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME BBC2 / 18x30m-e 1x45m-e / 1998-continuing Executive Producer: Jon Plowman / Music: Richard Webb / Producer: Anil Gupta Fast moving sketch show that managed to poke (semi-affectionate) fun at all aspects of Asian society, specifically the Asian experience of living in Britain. The cast were Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal, Kulvinder Ghir and Nina Wadia. Writers included the cast, Anil Gupta and Richard Pinto.
