Released in
conjunction with the celebratory DVD Who Put The M in Manchester, Live
at Earls Court sees the enigmatic and contradictory Morrissey in
reflective move as he performs songs from his best selling You Are The
Quarry as well as classics from the Smiths back catalogue such as How
Soon Is Now, Big Mouth Strikes Again and There is a Light That Never
Goes Out.
I
must admit that Before You Are The Quarry I thought that Morrissey had
slipped off the radar somewhat, however 2004 was probably his biggest
year ever, big hit singles, ep’s, the world tour and now of course the
DVD and CD, remarkably Morrissey’s has gotten better with age,
powerful when he needs to be especially on the vitriolic Irish Blood
English Heart but also able to come across all lounge lizard on You Know
I Couldn’t Last.
Morrissey is turning into one of
the elder statesmen of the music scene these days and Live At Earls
Court (which incidentally comes from five different venues in
London
,
Glasgow
,
Birmingham
,
Brighton
, and
Dublin
) is a great marker point on what could be some of Morrissey’s finest
years ever.
