Out of the Ashes of
Morphine (following the
death of Mark Sandman)
Dana Colley and Billy
Conway bring us Twinemen, the pair have
teamed up with vocalist
Laurie Sargent to put
together a very mellow
mix of world weary jazz,
chill-out sounds and
organic sleaze
rock.
Recorded in their usual
studio home Hi-N-Dry
throughout most of 2001,
the disc opens with the
gorgeous spinner
which has a harder sound
than most of the rest of
the album, other stand
out tracks include Chose
Sauvage, Little
By Little, Golden
Hour and Ronnie
Johnson.
Twinemen take hints of
our current obsession
for all things retro and
turn them into something
new, sure you might hear
traces of other groups,
Portishead will be the
name on most peoples
lips when trying to
describe the Twinemen
sound but twinemen
definitely have their
own thing happening.
Well recommended.
