UK / Yorkshire / 39x20m-e / 1975-78/ 3 Seasons
Children's entertainment featuring a pop
quartet, Rory (a lion), Bongo (a dog), Twang (a monkey) and Boots (a
Tiger) who just
happened to be animals (or actors in animal costume at any rate). There was
something decidely off kilter and other worldness about the animals
themselves, aimed at a generally pre school audience but quite scary
with their over sized heads. In 1979 the gang appeared on the Christmas
Day morning ITV show A Merry Morning (also made by Yorkshire and
broadcast from the National Children's Home in Harrogate, fellow
appearees included Mike Harding and Jimmy Tarbuck). The group released a
tie-in LP called 20 TV favourites.
With:- BEV DOYLE as Rory /
ATALANTA HARMSWORTH as Bongo / STEP MORLEY as Twang / DAVE BASSETT as
Boots
