Documentary with dramatised sequences showing the rise of Oliver Cromwell from a humble farmer to that of Lord Protector of England. The phrase "Warts and All" was coined by Cromwell when giving instructions to his portrait painter. This documentary was a tie-in to the concurrent BBC drama "Charles II - The Power and The Passion" - Charles I, who had a cameo in episode 1 of the drama was played by the same actor in this documentary.
