DOWNTON ABBEY-ESQUE PERIOD CLASSICS TO TIDE YOU OVER
Like the rest of the world’s population we have been caught up in Downton Abbey fever, mind you we’ve always been partial to a bit of classic period drama.
With the second season due to finish on the 19th Feb we’ve been checking out Acorn’s catalogue for period shows and it’s got some real gem’s on it – from one of our all time faves Poldark, to 1990’s drama The Grand (which was created by Dr Who alumni Russell T. Davies). There is also the sumptuous remake of the much loved Forsyte Saga starring Damien Lewis (who can currently be seen in Showtime’s Homeland).
Also worth seeking out is Brideshead Revisited which was conquering the world Downton Abbey style in the early 1980’s as well as seventies fave The Duchess of Duke Street.
Don’t know if any of you have checked out Acorn TV yet either but it’s a fab concept which enables you to stream pretty much all of their catalogue including the venerable Poldark and all time great Upstairs Downstairs.
