Last of the Mohicans is one of those very well remembered series from the early 1970's, one that over the years we have had a lot of people asking about seeing again. Acorn Media are doing the business this September with a two disc set released on Region 2 on 10 September. Based on the novel by James Fenimore Cooper this is your classic BBC period drama serial version featuring a top flight cast including the brilliant Philip Madoc, John Abineri (of Survivors) as Chingachook and Kenneth Ives as Hawkeye.

Set in the mid 18th century, during the North American wars when the Native American tribes were caught between the British and the French, this exciting series follows the heroic adventures of “Hawkeye”, and his companions “Chingachook” and “Uncas” – the true last of the Mohicans.

When the daughters of an English colonel are betrayed and captured by “Magua”, their ruthless Huron guide, Hawkeye and the Mohicans rescue them and vow to get them safely back to their father.

Definitely one to look out for. A true classic.
