LILLIES SEASON ONE

Released by Acorn Media on 16 April 2007

Lilies, the fantastic critically acclaimed eight-part drama series that has been attracting strong audiences on its Friday evening prime time slot on BBC One. Written by acclaimed screenwriter, Heidi Thomas, it will be released on DVD as a stunning three disc set with a whole host of extras on 16 April 2007.

Lilies tells the story of three sexy, tough and funny Catholic sisters; Iris, Ruby and May, coming of age in a terraced docklands house in Liverpool. The Moss sisters battle with poverty, burgeoning adulthood and the ravages of love in post World War I.

The series also follows the fortunes of the Protestant Moss men; widowed alcoholic father Dadda and troubled son Billy who suffers from the fatal combination of sensitivity, military service and parental expectation. Despite the hardships facing all members of the Moss family, they battle through their personal turmoil depending on the love and strength of one another to get them through.

Starring the talents of Pam Ferris (Rosemary And Thyme, Jane Eyre), Gillian Kearney (Hope And Glory, Shameless) and acclaimed actor Brian McCardie (Rob Roy, Murphy's Law and the BAFTA Scotland 2006 award-winning drama Low Winter Sun) the drama also showcases some wonderful new emerging British talents in Catherine Tydesley, Kerrie Hayes, Leanne Howe and Daniel Rigby.

Thomas is the unique writer of the award-winning 2003 film I Capture The Castle, Madame Bovary and Soldier Soldier. In creating Lilies, she employs her characteristic eye for detail capturing the essence of a mixed up 1920s Liverpool.
At times achingly heartrending and endearingly warm and funny, Lilies is a truly engaging drama series.

Extras include a specially filmed behind the scenes documentary, a picture gallery and cast filmographies.
