CAMPION: Police at the Funeral

Released by Acorn Media UK

Probably not as well remembered as it should be, the first  two Campion stories (both two parters and first seen in 1989) have just been released.

Created by Margery Allingham (and appearing in some 26 books) Albert Campion was a private detective operating in the 1930s helped out by his tough manservant and general aide de camp Magersfontain Lugg (a former cat burglar ). The stories are wonderfully filmed in the style of the BBC’s Miss Marple series with Campion getting around in a fantastic vintage looking Lagonda.

The first story Look to the Lady opens with what at first you think is Campion talking directly to camera - he is really looking in a mirror practicing a speech, Campion finds himself involved in a plot to steal a priceless sacred chalice that is being targeted by international thieves.

Story 2 Look to the Lady is your classic murder in the country scenario with Campion staying at the house of Caroline Faraday in Cambridge.

Beautiful to look at and great fun to watch Campion is a must for any fan of classic detective drama.
