Coming Home

Released by Acorn Media UK Coming Home is a sumptuous two part drama that first aired on the ITV network in 1998.

Initially set in the mid 1930's Coming Home is about Judith Dunbar and how here life changes when she becomes part of the wealthy Carey-Lewis family circle. Arriving at Boarding school young Judith meets carefree Loveday Carey-Lewis who invites her to stay with her family during the school holidays at their ancestral home Nancherrow. As time passes Judith (played by the beautiful Emily Mortimer) becomes almost part of the Carey-Lewis family.
With war on the horizon Judith begins an affair with Loveday's brother Edward but he is not interested in a real relationship.
When war does break out Judith's life and that of the Carey-Lewis's is changed forever. Coming Home is certainly a drama in the classic mould and one that has very high production values to boot.

THE DVD
The production (in a two disc set by by Acorn Media. The set is also available as a VHS release too.) is gorgeous to look with picture and sound first rate.
There are quite a few solid extras on this release two from an interview with original author Rosamunde Pilcher to biographies of both Pilcher and star Emily Mortimer as well as the usual scene indexing and interactive menu.
