THE LAST WALTZ

Quite possibly the greatest concert film ever and a clear fore runner of Spinal Tap. The Last Waltz, directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese, features the farwell concert by The Band from the mid 1970's interspersed with interviews with the guys in the band both before the gig and after as well as three gorgeous empty studio performances including their keynote song The Weight.
Inbetween playing their own songs The Band invite some friends along to jam with them, stand outs here include Neil Young, a very much enjoying himself Ronnie Hawkins, Joni Mitchell, a surprisingly excellent Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison.

If you are a fan of music there is now ay you cannot have this in your collection. Essential was the word invented for this release.

Extras The Main extra besides the usual scene indexing etc is a very cool 20 minute doco called The Last Waltz revisited in which Robertson and Scorsese talk about the making of the film.
