KATIE'S CORNER...LIKE MIKE
Each month 11 year old Katie looks at what's new in the world of DVD's and Books for kids.
Like Mike is about boy who lives in an orphanage who wants more than anything to be a famous NBA basketball player. Calvin  (the main character) and his  friend Murph are convinced they will never be adopted and will stay at the orphanage forever.
But that all changes when a pair of sneakers turn up with Michael Jordan’s initials in them. Calvin of course starts wearing the sneakers straight away and whilst at a basketball arena selling chocolates Calvin gets to play in a half time entertainment bit where the lucky person gets to verse Tracy Reynolds - a famous NBA player for the Knights, at last Calvin gets face to face with one of his heroes!
When the whistle blows for him and Tracy to verse each other, Calvin beats Tracy easily without trying. It would seem that Calvin's new sneakers are a little bit special and when the Knights coach asks Calvin to join his team he readily accepts. After much love hate going's on between Calvin and Tracy who find themselves as room-mates Tracy ends up adopting Calvin and  Murph in the end and they have every thing that they could possibly ever want.

KATIE'S VERDICT: I recommend this movie for family viewing because it is a great movie and I really enjoyed watching it and also LIKE MIKE  puts what a lot of kids want to be when they become adults into a movie.

Like Mike is released by Fox Entertainment.
