SEEING DOUBLE: THE S CLUB MOVIE

Released by Columbia. Region 4

Splitting up practically before you’ve even finished your big screen debut is probably not a good way to ensure it’s success but this is a fun movie though ideal for the school holidays and follows hot on the heels of their TV series (LA 7 and Miami 7).

The plot has the S Clubbers (sexy Rachel, down to Earth Jo, ditzy Hannah, exotic Tina, daft Bradley and straight laced Jon) tiring of their life on the road and publicity circuit and deciding to take a break with a little holiday in Barcelona, unbeknownst to them a sinister Mr Big has managed to create replicas of the gang and has used them to take their place on the stage and our TV screens. When the gang find out what is going on they are determined to reclaim their place as the rightful S Clubbers. Only one problem - no one believes they are the real S Club, cue serious problems as they are unable to pay their hotel bill and find themselves in prison (obviously they manage to escape, by performing a dance routine for the guards). With the fakes about to perform a big concert in California the gang have to find a way to get to Hollywood and replace the fakes with themselves.

There are plenty of funny moments with the gang trading heavily on the personalties of their TV personas (the film really being an extension of the series) and with 6 leads on the screen there is always something going but the real highlights of course are the songs including the excellent Jailhouse Rock pastiche of Don’t Stop Movin’.

extras include a nice feature called interview S Club, this offers snippets of interviews where you get to choose the questions. All About S Club (text biographies of the gang), an access all areas quiz which if you pass allows you to view behind the scenes footage, interviews with the crew and trailers.
