2003 marks 20
years of Taggart - from
it's humble beginnings as a very
gritty three part serial to
today's glossy high quality
single dramas. By the stage of
these releases (also available
on VHS) Taggart himself has long
since departed to the great
detective squad in the sky but
his departure actually served to
make the show stronger focusing
more on the murder squad itself.
These releases also see the
introduction of a new team
member in the form of Detective
Inspector Robbie Ross (played by
John Michie).

local housing scheme leads

criminal, a scrapyard owner, who
he had failed to convict in the

The murder of Ross’s associate
leads the team to question
Ross’ association with the
Glasgow underworld. Despite
Jardine’s orders Ross is
determined to avenge his
friend’s death.

Karen is found electrocuted at
the church during a storm, three
more murders follow and the team
is left with a race against time
to prevent another murder.

A policeman is found in a burnt
out car and the team first
suspect James Dillon, a ex con.
Then, when his ex-wife is
killed, casino owner Tony
Sullivan is blamed. But he’s
not the killer either…
