TFhis excellent new release comprises volumes 38-41 of the series. Of course Taggart himself is long gone by this stage but the series seemed to get stronger with the passing of Mark McManus. The first ever episode of the Glasgow-based drama, ‘Killer’, was broadcast on 6th September 1983, and ‘Taggart’ recently entered the record books as the longest running police drama currently on TV. The team here includes DCI Jardine (JAMES MACPHERSON), DS Reid (BLYTHE DUFF), DC Fraser (COLIN McCREDIE) and DI Ross (JOHN MICHIE), and guest stars in this set included Tom Bell and Paul Barber.

TAGGART VOLUME 38 –  SKIN DEEP
Reid and Ross investigate a death in the steam room of a health club and uncover a world of health and weight obsessed women with dark and dangerous secrets. Meanwhile Jardine has his own health problems, Ross is implicated in corruption then murder and Fraser valiantly struggles to prove Ross innocent.

TAGGART VOLUME 39 – WAVELENGTH
Robin Murray - therapist, radio celebrity and drugs counsellor - returns home to find his wife murdered. Was he the intended victim or is someone trying to scare him? Threats abound from an unhappy client to a gruesome caller. After Robin’s female admirers are killed, Jardine follows a blast from the past.   

TAGGART VOLUME 40 – FOOTBALL CRAZY
An investigation into Strathclyde FC follows the deaths of a match referee and the club director, each holding a red card. Things are not looking good for the club when the manager is dealt a red card and the club accountant is worried that he is next.  

TAGGART VOLUME 41 – FALLING IN LOVE
Davie ’s pre-wedding celebratory parachute jump turns into disaster when his parachute fails to open and he crashes through a greenhouse from 3000 feet. The team is called in to investigate his fellow members of ‘Eckie’s’ Dance Club and follow a trail of money and corruption, with passions running deep.
