EXTREME OPS
Released by Paramount. Out now to rent.

A He Says She Says Review

High octane set action in a Austrian ski-resort, Extreme Ops sees a film crew making an extreme sports commercial on a remote Austrian mountaintop tangling with Serbian terrorists, no big names but those appearing include Rufus Sewell, Joe Absolom, Devon Sawa, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras and Rupert Graves.

HE SAYS: Lacking in any real sense of the word an actual plot, the movie consists mainly of a series of extreme stunts in a snow filled setting, the cast, all young, fit and good looking (apart from Joe Absolom of course) struggle gamefully with the mainly banal dialogue, also the choice of the Serbians as the villains is pretty suspect, not only that the guys playing the villains are not well endowed in the acting department either, having said that the movie does offer some thrills and I’m sure any 14 year old snow boarding freaks out there will think it the best movie ever made.

SHE SAYS: Good looking, superfit young people doing the most amazing extreme stunts with the most spectacular backdrops and scenery means this movie is totally worth watching. The plot and dialogue is very vague and is basically only there to set the backdrop for the stunts. That said, neither is bad by any means, they just aren’t the focus of the movie – the reason for renting/buying this movie is obviously the stunt factor – and they definitely don’t disappoint. Death defying treats at high speed that unlike most of today’s action movies is not violent or computer generated but delivered with precision and panache and all requiring an immense amount of skill, fitness and style. End result is that I really enjoyed this film, thinking that it might not quite be my genre I was surprised and engrossed and found it much more entertaining than most of today’s action films with their violence and convoluted storylines. A really good movie.
