Frasier Series 2 (4 disc set) - The Memorable TV DVD Review

By it’s second season Frasier was already one of the smartest sitcoms on the box, now with Paramount releasing season 2 in a four disc set, we can take a fresh look at the show.

This set, containing 24 episodes, sees the shows premise already set (psychiatrist Frasier Crane moving home to Seattle to host a radio talk back show and getting plenty of interference in his life from his ageing father Martin who moves in with him – there was added spark with Frasier’s anal-pedantic brother Niles and Martin’s live in carer, the English Daphne, whom Niles lusted after.

Key episodes in this season see Frasier managing to upset the entire population of Seattle following some unwise comments about the city’s climate; Martin’s favourite bar looking in danger of being pulled down and Frasier’s holiday away with a new girlfriend on a romantic island being ruined when ex-wife Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth) turns up (the two parter Adventures in Paradise).

As always Frasier is incredibly witty, sparkling even, this second season seeing the characters really starting to gel and with the show just finishing it’s long run in the states the time is definitely right to reacquaint yourself with the show’s early years.
