In this made for TV movie, Laura Bancrofts (Delta Burke)
moves to Reno and is quickly absorbed into the world of Casino gambling.
The plot is weak and a frequency
of early winnings leads to an
addiction, and of course, a tale
of woe.
The sound throughout the movie drops in and out and the
predictability is very pie in
the face, surely I’ve had more
interesting conversations than
this.
Suddenly life catches up with our compulsive gambler and
missed opportunities go by and important matters are left by the way
side with the script, as the story drags horribly from scene to scene.
The gamblers constant reference to silver bullets leads you to wonder
why she wouldn’t save time, money, celluloid and effort and put one to
appropriate use.
Gambler then misappropriates/steals charity
foundation funds to feed her habit. When Guilt catches up with her, at
the same time hope comes to the viewer, as she tries to gas herself (the
gambler that is).
But alas, she fails and we are forced to sit through even
more menial scenes, with the law catching up with our addict, as we pray
for an end to this film.
The daughter turning trashy and giving her ass away is the
only distraction from a bad movie and a soppy righteous finish.
