THE GOOD LIFE Series 2
Released by Acorn Media UK. 2 disc set,  Available to buy now.

We all love The Good Life, a wonderful series from a great era for British TV – the 1970’s, with a cast on fine form and super scripts.

Acorn Media UK continue their releases of this classic show, the premise sees Tom and Barbara Good (played by the ever dependable Richard Briers and the lovely Felicity Kendal) giving up the rat race and going self sufficient in the middle of Surbiton much to the horror of their still supportive next door neighbours and best friends Margo and Jerry Leadbetter (Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington). With the first series having proved a big success this next set of 7 episodes carried on in much the same extremely funny vein.

The episodes are 1. Just My Bill in which Tom almost starts a turf war when he tries to sell his excess garden produce; 2. The Guru of Surbiton, a pair of university students decide Tom and Barbara’s home would be the ideal place to start a commune; 3. Mr Fix-It, Tom and Barbara’s lifestyle attracts the attention of the press, 4; The Day Peace Broke Out, a leek theft sees Tom in court; 5. Mutiny, Jerry has to choose between dinner with the boss or Margo’s new musical, 6. Home Sweet Home, Tom is thinking that he and Barbara should move to a proper small holding; 7. Going To Pot, Tom discovers a new career as a potter.

Excellent stuff and with series 4 already released we only need Acorn to release season three for the whole series to be available.

Extras: A revealing interview with writer Bob Larbey, production notes and writers bios.
