HIGH NOON

Released by Paramount. Out now to buy.

“Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling”

Fred Zinnerman’s 1952 classic of the western genre is now released by Paramount .

Starring the rugged Gary Cooper, a real man’s man if ever there was one plays Marshal Will Kane forced to protect his town from a bunch of revengist outlaws. Shot in stark black and white, the movie has influenced movie makers ever since, especially with its stylised climactic showdown.

Winning four academy awards the movie has a whole lot going for it not least the playing of the leads who include a young Lloyd Bridges and, in her first Hollywood starring role Grace Kelly as Coop’s beautiful young new wife and packs plenty of action in to its short (by todays standards anyway when any film under two hours is considered short) 80 minute running time. Add to this mix the stirring Frank Ifield signature tune and you have a true Hollywood classic.

No Extras.
