In what could just be the Flashdance for the naughties
Jessica Alba breaks onto the big
screen fresh from her starring
role in TV’s Dark Angel.
Alba, looking pretty darn sexy, plays Honey
Daniels a hip hop dancer
struggling to make her mark in
the business, after being
spotted though by a video
producer Honey eventually rises
to become a prominent
choreographer, along the way
though are the usual problems of
the heart (Mekhi Phifer plays
her love interest) and with the
machinations of a rival dancer.
While the movie offers nothing new in terms of story
development Honey is a pretty infectious groove and Alba certainly has
all the right moves, toned and by turns naïve and foxy. There’s also
a great cameo from rap superstar Missy Elliott and of course music is an
integral part of Honey; Luckily enough the soundtrack by Mervyn Warren
is fist rate.
EXTRAS:Honey features a great package of extras that includes an audio
commentary from Alba and director Billie Woodruff, 16 deleted scenes, an
alternative opening and extended dance sequences.
There is also a ten minute feature going behind the scenes
of the movie; Make Your Move, Dance Like Honey is a ten minute guide to
some of Honey’s dance moves from choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson;
There are also five minutes worth of outtakes, three full music videos (Jadakiss
and Sheek’s J.A.D.A, Shawn Desman’s SEXY and Blaque’sI’m Good – there is even a doco on the making of the blaque
video, all three making ample use of Alba; In addition to all of that
there are cast and crew bios and DVD Rom feature.
