You’re my best friend and now you’re a guy - it’s meant to be.”

Hot on the heels of The Animal Rob Schneider comes over all teenage girly.

Jessica Spencer (Rachel McAdams) has it all, she’s the high school queen, hot favourite to win the cheer leader comp and has the heart of the best looking boy in school - despite being arrogant and loathed by many of her contemporaries. Jessica’s problems really start when she gets hold of a pair of ancient ear-rings that just happen to have magical powers, when she loses one of them it is found by petty crook Clive (Schneider) , before you know it things have turned all Freaky Friday and  Jessica and Clive have swapped places.

This is where Rob Schneider really comes into his own, playing Jessica in uber camp style, Jessica of course has to persuade her friends that she is not some 30 year old man with a permanent 3 day growth (cue lots of eyebrow plucking, learning to pee standing up and having a best friend develop a crush on her). To avoid trouble at home Jess finds herself posing as new Mexican gardener Taquito (her father then proceeds to tell her the details of his sex life whilst her mother makes a pass at Taquito.

The body swap genre has been a Hollywood staple for years and it’s not hard to see why, the fish out of water syndrome providing guaranteed laughs. The Hot Chick is very funny with Schneider milking the camp as a row of tents line for all its worth. Schneider co-wrote the movie and is more than happy to share the laughs amongst the cast, there is even a cameo for mate Adam Sandler as a stoner bongo player, also very worthy of mention is the beautiful Anna “Amazing Eyes” Faris who is excellent as Jessica’s best friend April.

The Hot Chick is a feel good movie with a good heart, it’s message being its not what's on the outside that counts but who you are inside.

EXTRAS: A making of documentary called The Hot Chick Yearbook that looks at different aspects of the movie such as Becoming Clive and Becoming Jessica, a whole raft of deleted scenes (15 of them) including one alternate ending (you can see why they didn’t go with it too!), a music video “Starlight” by Zed and a pretty laid back and funny commentary featuring director Tom Brady.
