I
LOVE YOU TO DEATH
Released
by Columbia
Apparently
based on a true story this
frantic hitman comedy often
fails to hit the target, it
features a high quality cast who
are all mostly trying too hard.
Tracey Ullman stars (after her
comedy show had hit big in the
US) as the Italian-American
owner of a pizzeria who, having
grown sick of her philandering
husband Joey (Kevin Kline)
decides to hire a hitman to kill
him, enter stage right, bumbling
assassins William Hurt, River
Phoenix and Keanu Reeves (the
film’s high spots generally
involve these actors appearing
on screen), of course the guys
pretty much fail to bump Joey
off.
Directed
by Lawrence Kasdan and with a
cast that also includes the
lovely Joan Greenwood and Miram
Margolyes I Love You To Death
should have been first rate
instead it is just average.
Only
extras are a trio of trailers
for other
Columbia
releases.
