THE BEST OF KNIGHT RIDER VOLUME ONE
Released by Universal Entertainment.  2 Disc Set. Available to buy now.

“The Car’s The Star”

Back in the day everyone loved KITT, the souped up Pontiac Trans-Am at the heart of Knight Rider, now thanks to Universal we can relive five episodes of this 1980’s cult series. David Hasselhoff made his name as Michael Knight; Knight was a police officer called Michael Long, who, left for dead, is rescued by millionaire philanthropist Wilton Knight and following Wilton ’s untimely death Michael finds himself the sole benefactor of his estate with the proviso that he uses the resources to fight crime. Chief resource of course being the amazing computerised car KITT (voiced by C3P0 himself) whose full name was Knight Industries Two Thousand. KITT was capable of travelling at 300mph and was fully equipped with a whole array of weapons and tricks. Helping Michael and KITT were Devon Miles (Edward Mulhare) who managed Knight’s estate and mechanice Bonnie Barstow (Patricia McPherson) who was later replaced by April Curtis (Rebecca Holden).

The episodes on this disc feature on disc one the two part pilot episode Knight of the Phoenix and Trust Doesn’t Rust whilst disc two features 3 more episodes Soul Survivor, Knightmares and A Good Knights Work. Th guest stars include Richard Basehart (who plays Wilton Knight in the pilot) and also Ann Turkel, Susan Kellerman and John Vernon.

Despite being a riot of bad hairdo’s and dodgy 80’s styling Knight Rider is great fun and very watchable, roll on volume two. No extras unfortunately.
