With it’s script by Alan Jay Lerner and choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse (who also appears) this musical version of Antoine De St-Exupery’s beautiful children’s book is never less than very interesting.

Throw in the eccentric Gene Wilder and a whole raft of stalwart British character actors (including the likes of Joss Ackland, Clive Revill, Graham Crowden and Victor Spinetti) and some very high quality production values and set design and you have a nicely entertaining movie.

De St-Exupery went missing in strange circumstances during world war II but left behind a wonderfully whimsical story of a young boy who lives on an asteroid but travels to Earth to discover something of life. Turned into a musical by director Stanley Donen (music and lyrics by Lerner and Lowe).

The Little Prince is a nice family movie that should still appeal to today’s overstimulated child.

No extras.
