MERMAIDS
Distributor: Paramount Home Entertainment
Certificate: PG | 89 minutes

Cast:
Erika Heynatz, Sarah Laine, Nikita Ager, Daniel Friedrickson
Extras:

This sub Charmed piece of fantasy about a trio of Mermaids with special powers is actually great fun.

Made as a pilot for a possible TV series the plot sees Mermaid Diana (played by Australian Erika Heynatz who has latterly been presenting The Hothouse) taking to life on land to join forces with her already land bound sisters June (Sarah Laine) and Venus (Nikita Ager) and following the murder of their father.

The girls have magic tiaras as well as the ability to control minds and grant wishes however Venus’s powers aren’t working too well, she has been trapped by an evil bar owner and is being forced to provide a novelty mermaid act for his club.

Thanks to the help of coast guard officer Randy (Daniel Friedrickson) the girls catch their father’s killers. Whilst admittedly lightweight Mermaids is entertaining enough and would certainly make a decent enough TV series.
