NEVADA SMITH
Released by Paramount. Available  to buy now.

When Nevada Smith was made in 1965 Steve McQueen was at the height of his powers, a real star. This western, directed by Henry Hathaway, sees him playing the Nevada Smith of the title, a man driven by a desperate need to track down the killers of his parents.

It’s the kind of loner shtick that McQueen did so well, Smith, a half breed (his mother was Native American) uses his skills as a gunslinger to blind him from everything else in life, becoming in effect a revenge machine.

It’s actually strong stuff contained within the standard western format, throw in such able character actors as Karl Malden and the fantastic Brian Keith along with Arthur Kennedy and a young Suzanne Pleshette and you have one very watchable movie.

No extras unfortunately.
