The DVD Review

NOTORIOUS
Released by MRA Entertainment. Available to buy now.

The second new Alfred Hitchcock release from MRA Entertainment pitches Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman headlong into a post world war II drama. Bergman headlines as Alicia Huberman, a woman whose father has been convicted of treason against the US following the end of World War II. Alicia finds herself being drafted into helping the US government where she meets the debonair T.R. Devlin (Cary Grant), Alicia is soon attempting to infiltrate a NAZI enclave in South America whilst fighting her feelings for Devlin and her growing attachment to Claude Rain’s Nazi Alexander Sebastian who just happens to be the head of the organisation Alicia is trying to get details on.

Notorious is classic Hitchcock, similar in style and tone to the movies he made in the UK during the 1930’s and a precursor to movies like North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief. The movie offers a good mix of romance, adventure and excitement (all the staples you need in a vintage Hollywood flick) and is a very enjoyable release.
