A He Says She Says review by Knowles and Knowles

Working at Initech was boring and repetitive.  When Peter’s hypnotist dies without taking him out of his trance his entire life changes.  Left permanently relaxed he decides that he doesn’t care anymore.  He stops showing up for work on time and finds himself a new girlfriend.  When a new group of consultants is introduced into the workplace Peter impresses them with his new honesty and laid back attitude.  His new outlook ends up getting him promoted to management and his more hard working friends Michael Bolton and Samir get laid off.  This inequity actually ends up firing him up and when he meets up with his friends they hatch a plan to rip off the company.  When they hit pay dirt and end up with far more money than they had predicted the story changes.

She says I love this movie.  It is very slow to start and takes perseverance to get into, but it is well worth the effort.  It has some marvellous performances within it.  Diedrich Bader (Drew Carey Show) is Lawrence the Cheech Marin styled neighbour, Gary Cole (American Gothic) is Lumbergh, the bland and benign boss and John McGinley (Scrubs) as one of the Bobs.  My absolute favourite character is that of Stephen Root as Milton, the employee that everyone forgot to tell he had been fired.

He says This is classic late night telly, I remember staying up till 2 in the morning the first time this movie caught me when shown as the late movie. As tired as I was, I had to watch it till the end. Its hard to identify what element grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go, but this movie has it and it carries right till the end. Root is the true star of the movie, his character Milton crops up constantly throughout and in the end saves the day for the other characters when they have given up.

No Extras.
