The DVD Review

THE PARALLAX VIEW
Released by Paramount

An intelligent conspiracy theory filled movie The Parallax View, directed by Alan J. Pakula stars Warren Beatty as journalist Joe Frady who discovers that a company called the Parallax Coporation could have been involved in the assassination of a senator, going undercover Frady discovers that the Corporation is using brainwashing techniques during it’s intense therapy sessions in order to kill off the witnesses to the assassination.

With plenty to say on the government and comissions of the 60’s and 70’s The Parallax View is a cross between All The Presidents Men and an episode of The Avengers. Beatty is excellent as the out of his depth Frady and has a great supporting cast to back him up, including the likes of Hume Cronyn, a sexy looking Paula Prentiss, Kenneth Mars and William Daniels.

Certainly one of the more intriguing movies of the 1970’s, especially with its Parallax treatment sequence of image piled upon image and Beatty was on a role at this point following up this movie with his career defining role in Shampoo.
