RETURN FROM WITCH MOUNTAIN
Distributor: Disney Home Entertainment
Certificate: G | 93 minutes
Director: John Hough
Cast:
Kim Richards, Ike Eisenmann, Bette Davis, Christopher Lee, Jack Soo, Anthony James
Extras: No

This sequel to the popular Escape To Witch Mountain isn’t quite as sprightly as that movie but more than compensates with a starry cast who are clearly enjoying themselves.

Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann again play paranormal kids Tony and Tia, the pair now living with their uncle (Denver Pyle) in Witch Mountain (where everyone has special powers), it’s three years since the events of the first movie and the kids are to spend a weekend in Los Angeles (bit dodgy this these days as the kids are allowed to go off into the city on their own).

Before you can say “Look out here comes trouble” Tony has been kidnapped by the evil Letha (a fantastic as always Bette Davis) and the sinister Dr Victor Gannon (Christopher Lee – here very good playing at a level under Davis, a nice counterpoint to her fiery evilness) who both plot to use him for different ends (Letha to make a potful of money, Victor plans a spot of world domination). Tia meanwhile has to try and rescue Tony and enlists the help of a gang of ragamuffin kids to do so.

More slapstick than Escape and full of adventurous car chases and the like Return From Witch Mountain still contains much to entertain but veers towards full on kids fare as opposed to a family movie.

Definitely worth a look if you’ve seen Escape and a great rainy day movie for the kids on its own merits.

No extras unfortunately.
