The DVD Review

UNDER SUSPICION

Released by MRA Entertainment. Out now to buy.

Suspense filled period UK whodunit set in 1950’s Brighton starring Liam Neeson as ex-cop turned private eye Tony Aaron. Tony specialises in quicky divorce cases photographing adulterers in flagrante as it were (with their knowledge) to make their divorce case easier, Aaron uses his wife Hazel (Maggie O’Neill) as the “moll” in these jobs but his troubles start when he discovers both her and his latest adulterer, a famous painter, murdered. And he is prime suspect. He is determined to clear his name (with some help from a friend on the force played by the fantastic Kenneth Cranham), he targets the artists mistress Angeline (the fulsome Laura San Giacomo) and before you know it is embroiled in an affair with her.

A movie to certainly keep you guessing with a great twist ending, writer/director Simon Moore does well to evoke a wintery, somewhat sleazy Brighton whilst the cast includes some great British character actors including the likes of the aforementioned Cranham as well as Stephen Moore and Malcolm Storry. Very watchable.

Extras: Photo gallery and the original movie trailer.
