A
He Says She Says review by
Knowles and Knowles
A
freak accident has given Kim
Kyung-Soo mysterious new powers
which he is reluctant to use.
Despite his wish to be left
alone others continually try to
challenge him to test themselves
against such a formidable
adversary. This perceived
propensity for fighting means
that he has been expelled from
all possible schools, the last
one being Volcano High.
This school has many feuding
factions within it and all vie
to tie the newcomer to their
group as the rumours of his
capabilities grow within the
school. When the Principal
is mysteriously taken ill the
Vice-Principal calls upon a
group of teachers who specialise
in confronting wayward students
to take control of the school.
This new group of teachers
appear unbeatable till the final
fight involving Kyung-Soo.
She
says As far as
teen angst movies go this leaves
all the American ones for dead.
Full of really fit, good looking
young people with serious
attitude issues this is an
excellent movie. It has
terrific fight scenes using many
different techniques.
Detracting slightly from the
story were the hammy faces and
acting that seems to be almost
obligatory in this kind of
movie.
He
says Imagine if Harry
Potter was directed by the
Wachowski Brothers(Matrix) with
a bit of Crouching Tiger Hidden
Dragon thrown in. The movie in
your mind would probably be
Volcano High. The way the
characters are introduced,
freeze framed with sub titled
names and descriptions, reminds
me of the classic Streetfighter
game. The fight scenes are as
good as you can get and don’t
disappoint. Icy Jade- the
beautiful but chase captain of
the all girl Kendo team suits
her nickname as she shows little
emotion throughout the movie,
but plays a good counterpart to
Kyung-Soo. I really enjoyed this
story and have no problems
adding it to my collection.
